Marking the 50th anniversary of Meat Loaf's iconic 1977 album Bat Out of Hell, the award-winning, jaw-dropping rock spectacular BAT OUT OF HELL – THE MUSICAL roars into New Zealand in 2027 for an electrifying six-city tour, featuring an all-New Zealand cast and live rock band.

Bursting with some of the biggest rock anthems ever written, including I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That), Paradise by the Dashboard Light, Two Out of Three Ain't Bad, Dead Ringer for Love, It's All Coming Back to Me Now and, of course, Bat Out of Hell, this larger-than-life musical promises an explosive theatrical experience unlike anything else.

With its extraordinary vocals, spectacular choreography, epic staging and a love story that burns as fiercely as the music, BAT OUT OF HELL – THE MUSICAL is a high-octane celebration of rock 'n' roll at its most outrageous.

The New Zealand tour will be produced by Ben McDonald, producer of the hit musicals Chicago and Menopause the Musical, alongside Stewart and Tricia Macpherson, whose acclaimed productions include The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and Green Day’s American Idiot musical. Together, they bring a wealth of theatrical experience to this spectacular new staging, which will showcase some of New Zealand's finest musical theatre talent and musicians.

Inspired by the legendary music of Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf, the musical transports audiences to a post-apocalyptic world where rebellious youth, forbidden love and the fight for freedom collide.

At the heart of the story is Strat, the forever-young leader of a gang of rebellious outsiders known as The Lost, who falls hopelessly in love with Raven, the sheltered daughter of the city's tyrannical ruler, Falco. Their explosive romance sets the stage for a thrilling battle between generations, fuelled by passion, rebellion and some of the greatest rock songs of all time.

BAT OUT OF HELL – THE MUSICAL has taken the world by storm, thrilling audiences across London's West End, Manchester, Toronto, New York, Las Vegas, Germany, Australia and New Zealand.

Winner of the Radio 2 Audience Award for Best Musical at London's Evening Standard Theatre Awards, the production also received eight WhatsOnStage Award nominations, including Best New Musical, and earned five-star reviews from The Independent, Daily Mirror, Daily Express, Manchester Evening News and Metro.

Released in 1977, Meat Loaf's Bat Out of Hell, written by Jim Steinman, became a global phenomenon, selling more than 68 million copies worldwide and cementing its place among the best-selling albums of all time. The partnership continued with the hugely successful Bat Out of Hell II: Back into Hell, which delivered the international smash hit I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That).

Now, these unforgettable songs are brought to life in a theatrical spectacle that combines the power of a rock concert with the excitement, drama and emotion of musical theatre.
