The evening blends personal storytelling from Dame Malvina Major’s remarkable career with live performances from leading and emerging artists.

Te Pae Kōkako – The Aotearoa New Zealand Opera Studio (TANZOS), based at the University of Waikato, is the perch ('pae') where Aotearoa’s opera voices gather strength before taking flight. Established in 2023 at the invitation of Dame Malvina Major, the programme is internationally recognised, developing singers for global opera careers.

Proceeds from the event are planned to support earthquake-strengthening work at Waikato Cathedral Church of St Peter, including the development of the Dame Malvina Major Music Centre.
