Orchestras Central’s Trust Waikato Symphony Orchestra joins forces with the Hamilton Operatic Society under the direction of David Sidwell and Simon Brew for a spectacular celebration of one of musical theatre’s greatest composers. Featuring some of the Waikato’s finest singers alongside a full symphony orchestra, this concert brings together an exceptional lineup of local talent.
Featuring 125 performers on stage, including the full orchestra, chorus, children’s choir, and soloists, this concert delivers a spectacular symphonic journey through Andrew Lloyd Webber’s greatest works.
The programme features beloved songs from The Phantom of the Opera, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, Sunset Boulevard, and more—along with seldom‑heard gems that shine in this rich orchestral setting. This rare opportunity to hear these iconic pieces performed with a full symphony orchestra is a gift for Hamilton and the wider community.
This event marks the first major performance by both organisations in the brand‑new BNZ Theatre, and anticipation is high for the spectacle to come. Don’t miss what promises to be a thrilling afternoon of music, light, and world‑class talent in one of Hamilton’s most beautiful new venues.
